Miami released inmates go through the Miami-Dade County jail system. When police make an arrest in Miami, they take the person to one of three county detention centers. The Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department runs all jail facilities in the county. You can search for released inmates using the online portal. The inmate search shows current custody status and helps you find out if someone has been let go from jail. Each day, hundreds of people are booked into and released from Miami-Dade County facilities.

Miami Inmate Detention

Miami does not have its own city jail. All inmates arrested by Miami police go to Miami-Dade County facilities. The county runs three main detention centers with a combined capacity of over 4,600 beds. These are the Metro-West Detention Center, the Pretrial Detention Center, and the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Search Miami Released Inmates Online

Use the inmate search tool at miamidade.gov/Apps/mdcr/inmateSearch to find people arrested in Miami. Enter at least three letters of the first name and last name. The search returns results for inmates currently in custody. Some release data may appear, but the portal focuses on current inmates.

If the person you search for does not show up, they may have already been released. The database updates at intervals throughout the day. Some information may lag behind actual releases. Contact Central Records at (786) 263-4222 for detailed release information not shown online.

The search results show a mugshot, full name or booking name, date of birth, and jail number. You also see the booking date, race, weight, sex, eye color, and hair color. Case information includes the charges and case number. Bond status shows whether the person can post bond and the amount required. This helps you understand if someone is likely to be released soon or will remain in custody.

Miami-Dade County Detention Centers

Metro-West Detention Center is at 13850 Northwest 41st Street, Miami, FL 33178. Call (786) 263-5110 for this facility. Metro-West holds 2,200 beds and houses male and female inmates at all security levels. Most people here are serving sentences after conviction.

Pretrial Detention Center sits at 1321 Northwest 13th Street, Miami, FL 33125. The phone is (786) 263-4110. This facility has 1,400 beds for people awaiting trial. It is close to Central Court. Many pretrial inmates get released after posting bond or when their cases resolve.

Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, called TGK, is at 7000 Northwest 41st Street, Miami, FL 33166. Call (786) 263-5341. TGK has 1,000 beds and serves as the booking and release center. All arrests in Miami first go through TGK. Most releases happen here. TGK also has a Juvenile Unit.

Inmate Services and Visitation

Inmates need money for commissary items, phone calls, and self-bonding. To deposit funds, you need the inmate's booking name, jail number, and facility number 233101. Deposit in person at kiosks in detention center lobbies. The kiosks take cash. You can also deposit online through Touchpay using a credit or debit card, or call Touchpay to deposit by phone.

Miami-Dade uses remote video visits only. You must be on the inmate's approved visitation list. Personal visitors register online, create an account, and wait 24 hours. Then you can schedule a visit at least one day ahead, but not more than seven days in advance. Attorneys and professionals need two to three business days for approval. Dress appropriately and follow all rules during visits, or you may lose visitation privileges.
