Miami Beach Released Inmate Records

Released inmates from Miami Beach can be found through the Miami-Dade County jail system. Miami Beach is a barrier island city with about 83,000 residents. The city does not operate its own jail facility. When Miami Beach Police make an arrest, the person goes to one of three county jails run by the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department. You can search for released inmates online using the county inmate search portal at miamidade.gov. The database shows who is in custody and provides some release data for people booked after an arrest in Miami Beach or anywhere else in Miami-Dade County.

Sending Money to Inmates

Inmates use money in their accounts for commissary, phone calls, and bonding out. You need three things to deposit money: the inmate's booking name, jail number, and facility number 233101. In-person deposits can be made at kiosks in any detention center lobby. The kiosks take cash.

For online deposits, use the Touchpay provider with a credit or debit card. You can also call Touchpay to deposit money by phone using a credit or debit card. Inmates use these funds for self-bonding, commissary purchases, and other jail expenses while in custody.

Video Visitation Rules

Miami-Dade County uses remote video visits for all inmate visitation. Only approved visitors on the inmate's master visitation list can schedule visits. Personal visitors must register, create an account, and wait 24 hours before scheduling their first visit. Attorneys and professionals must apply and register, which takes two to three business days for approval.

Schedule visits at least one day ahead, but not more than seven days in advance. Unregistered visitors cannot appear on video calls. Dress appropriately. Visits cannot be extended. Do not photograph or record during visits. Do not display inappropriate items. Violations may result in losing visiting privileges or facing disciplinary actions.

Public Records Law in Florida

Chapter 119 of the Florida Statutes is the Public Records Act. It requires government agencies to provide access to most records. Jail records in Miami-Dade County fall under this law. Section 945.10 lists exemptions for confidential information. Medical records, mental health files, and substance abuse treatment records cannot be released without consent. Victim statements and witness protection information stay confidential.

To request records not available online, contact Central Records in writing or by phone. The department reviews requests and provides cost estimates before producing records. You may need to pay fees for extensive searches or large volumes of documents. Section 119.07 allows agencies to charge for supervision services and special technology use when fulfilling public records requests.

County Jail vs State Prison

Miami-Dade County jails are separate from the Florida Department of Corrections. County jails hold people awaiting trial or serving short sentences. State prisons hold people convicted of felonies and sentenced to longer terms. If someone from Miami Beach gets sent to state prison, they leave the county system.

Use the FDC offender search at pubapps.fdc.myflorida.com for state prisoners. The state database has inmate population records, release information, escape data, supervised offenders, and absconder lists. The Inmate Release Information Search updates every night. Miami-Dade County has six state prison institutions that report to the Florida Department of Corrections.
